Young Invincibles (YI) is constantly looking at opportunities for innovation. A few weeks ago, the Goldhirsh Foundation, in partnership with GOOD Maker, announced the LA2050 Contest, designed to inspire Angelenos to use their current work and innovative ideas to shape a better future for Los Angeles by the year 2050. YI joined the contest and is now in the running to win a grant to support their health care mobile app (found on iTunes, Google Play, or www.younginvincibles.org). With this grant they will build a grassroots network of young leaders in LA who will go out into their communities to inform other young adults about health care through the use of YI’s Health Care Finder – Los Angeles mobile app. They will recruit 20 young adults from low-income communities of color, like South LA.  These young promoters will be selected as YI leaders and will obtain $1,000 stipends after the completion of their individual projects within their communities.

A total of 10 innovative and creative projects will win this grant to implement their ideas. YI invites you to read their idea and VOTE for their project. This project was designed not only to educate and ensure young adults get covered, but also to provide an opportunity to build the leadership capacity of young adults. Young leaders are the drivers that our communities need to ensure that everyone gets the care they deserve. Through this project, YI is helping this generation build LA’s leaders for 2050. VOTE for YI’S Young Leaders For A Healthy LA project at http://myla2050.maker.good.is/projects/YI_Care before April 17, 2013 at 12pm.
