Community Financial
Resource Center (CFRC) is hosting Community Chalk Art Project 2 Support Street
Vendors on Friday, Aug. 23 from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4060 S. Figueroa.
CFRC recognizes the need for a comprehensive initiative that supports all food
entrepreneurs, as well as an advocacy campaign that helps food vendors sell
their goods in low-income neighborhoods. The project will be used as a vehicle
to educate the community about the issue of street vending in Los Angeles and
how these emerging entrepreneurs can contribute to the reversal of the scarcity
of affordable and healthy food in Boyle Heights and South Los Angeles. This
effort will work towards a “systems change” in the City of Los Angeles where
street vending is illegal, by developing programming that meets food
entrepreneurs’ needs, while advocating for policies that help them sell on
sidewalks and public spaces. For more information, email hassan@cfrcla.org. |
