On Saturday, February 16, Camellia Basic Elementary School's PTA
will host its Annual Pancake Breakfast and kick off Cougar Safety Week: Protecting our “Paws”, “Maws”, “Cubs” and More.
The week will begin with a Safety Expo at the breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.,
followed by four days of engaging student assemblies and parent education sessions with community resource experts on such topics as injury prevention, traffic safety, emergency preparedness, violence prevention, and toxic sites. Tickets to the breakfast are $3.00 for children and $5.00 for adults. Entrance to the Safety Expo is free, and family members are encouraged to come to campus and participate in Take Your Family to School Week activities. Expo participants, presenters, and supporters include Safe Kids Coalition, Walk Sacramento, Pesticide Watch, Legal Services of Northern California, Ubuntu Green, YMCA, California Highway Patrol, Fresh Producers, California Emergency Management Agency, and City of Sacramento’s Captain Jerry’s Traffic Safety Program. Root Causes will distribute free bike helmets on a first‐come, first‐served basis. Assemblyman Roger Dickinson will be a featured speaker at the Safety Expo and breakfast at 9am and Councilmember Kevin McCarty will address participants at 10am.
