Baktun12 will be showcasing their ongoing series of “reAlisal: Stories de Acosta Plaza” written by Luis “xago” Juarez at the Alisal Center for the Fine Arts on January 16th to January 25th. This piece includes interviews as well as anecdotes of current and past residents that have resided in that community are represented throughout this play.

The story follows a young man discovering the value of his community through the experiences of his family, friends and neighbors. Along the way he encounters what it was like to grow up in his neighborhood, that at times was plagued by inequity and misrepresentation but enriched by lessons of survival and success.

What a great way of highlighting the experiences of our community through such an artistic medium! We hope to see more showcases displaying the value of youth to Salinas. Congratulations to Baktun12 for their commitment in uplifting the stories of East Salinas!
