Today, Jovenes was featured in the LA Times for a story concerning the "Community Cares Facility Ordinance." This ordinance proposes to significantly restrict shared housing and the ability of people on probation and parole to live together. The CCFO is so broad that it would impact the seniors, veterans, youth, and families that rely on shared housing in Boyle Heights. It threatens Jovenes' very existence and our strategy to create permanent housing opportunities for our youth, for which we've received a PRI from TCE.

City council was supposed to vote on this ordinance today, but Jovenes worked with a coalition of over 150 organizations to reach out to the public and decision makers to highlight just how damaging the CCFO would be to our communities and people in need throughout the city. The good news is that the Council decided not to vote today, and are looking for ways to "improve" this ordinance. Jovenes will continue fighting it, and hope to enlist the support of the HUB in the future as necessary!
