The Rural Human Services’ Board of Directors is pleased to announce it has been able to recruit and hire the replacement for Executive Director Teri McCune-Oostra.

“We had quite the task to find someone whom we felt could handle the many facets of RHS and what we do,” said Board President Ron Sandler. “We feel Mr. Mike Costigan can do the job with the skill and leadership we need.”

“I am very excited to join the RHS family and am looking forward to getting to know the staff and the community we serve better,” Costigan said. “From the folks I have had a chance to meet and work with so far, I know we are going to continue to grow and do good things.”

Costigan has served in government affairs and non-profit leadership roles most of his life and has produced and managed grants, many with non-governmental organizations (NGO’s). He has more than twenty years of senior level executive experience in state and federal governments and in the private sector.

Costigan’s areas of expertise include: general and financial management, intergovernmental affairs, legislative strategy, project management, public policy and political advocacy for programs.

He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is married with three sons, all of whom are very involved in sports and community activities.

Sandler went on to say that the search for the new executive director went well thanks to the strong support from RHS staff and stakeholders.

“It would have been much harder to find the right person without staff caring for RHS and the vital input personnel gave us on what they felt was needed in our next executive director,” Sandler said.

Costigan will be starting his new job with RHS mid-February.
