Welcome to BHC Connect

In 2009, The California Endowment partnered with 14 under served  California communities in a ten year initiative known as Building Healthy Communities (or BHC). Our approach, founded on the belief that health doesn't just happen in the doctor's office, addresses health and wellness in a broader context. We believe health begins and happens in our communities, schools and homes. BHC Connect aims to chronicle the work and unique perspectives of these 14 diverse communities along their journey. The site is a direct product and reflection of their ideas and collaboration. Here you will find important: BHC documents, discussions, events, blogs, photo galleries, newsletters and even community videos.

BHC Connect is collectively owned, managed and maintained by members of the 14 BHC hubs. The site is powered by Google apps but you won't need an account to access anything. If you would like to participate or keep up with the online conversation, please contact your local hub coordinator or fill out our member form.

I've had the great privilege to support this amazing effort and team over the last three years and couldn't be prouder of their work, commitment and passion. I am especially proud to call many of them friends. Together, I know we can build healthy communities and make Health Happen Here.

Welcome to BHC Connect.
