Central Long Beach: We ARE the Media.

Is it possible to get any more passionate about the work that I do? The California Endowment today just wrapped up an intensive two-day Communications training with all of the 14 communities in LA. I have come away, excited, anxious and more ready than ever to help broadcast the work of the Long Beach Building Healthy Communities! (With a little healthy competition ;) )

These two days for me were really to build relationships with my colleagues that are striving for the same positive changes in these 14 communities across the state. I also learned some very valuable skills from building a communications plan to effectively writing and distributing press releases and using current social media outlets to integrate your information and broadcast your message to a wider audience. It was jampacked with so much information and I couldn't possibly begin to cover here what I learned!

What I can say is that there are some very exciting opportunities that will be coming up. And now that I feel a much stronger working relationship with my fellow coordinators, cross-site collaboration I believe will grow as a result.

This has been just a quick and dirty update and brief reflection on the past two days. I'm excited for what is to come!
