Well... Where do I begin.. First, it has been a while since my last blog and things have been going great...

Lot's of cool project are under way in BHC Sacramento and it keeps getting better and better. But I have to talk today a bit about what I encounter last night in our neighborhoods here in BHC Sacramento.

As most of you all know August 2, 2011 was National Night Out, and this gave an opportunity to all of our neighborhoods to come out to the streets and celebrate and share food and conversations with their neighbors. I have to tell you all that I had an amazing time and met so many cool people and was just so excited to see what a great community we have in BHC.

I got a chance to visit three events last night and it all begin with the Oak Park Business Association Event.. Wow... Got to hand it to Terre Johnson, ( a Steering Committee Member for BHC Sac- and other titles in our Community) he really knows how to throw and event and bring his community to be part of it. The music was great, the food was AWESOME and alll the community members that attended made it all an amazing event.

Next I ended up in another celabration on 13th Avenue, there a block organized itself and they decided to provide Ice Cream to break the ice and join in the fun.... That was so cool.... But the people that I met there were also amazing. Most of them have been living there for the past 50+ years and they take care of their neighbors just like they were their family members.. WOW they are a close bunch of neighbors that really know the meaning of community and service to their neighbors. I think it was a great time and the conversation was even more interesting because we talked about BHC and the projects that we currently have and they where eager to be more engaged....

But now let me talk about the last event that I attended, which was one of my fav's...

My last stop was at the National Night Out Event for Colonial Park. That community is a small, but powerful community. I learned that this was the first time since their last National Night Out a couple of years ago. And it had to do with just them not been a big association or having the structure of others, but they had what in my opinon really matters Community Members that care and want to see a change in their Community. To me that was Powerful and that can accomplish more than having a structure in place.... I got a chance to talk to new people and engage in conversations that relate to our BHC project. I also got a chance to met on another level a couple of our Steering Committee Members and that was awesome...

When it all comes down and when we are looking for answers to figure out this issues that we face in our community is easy to see that our community members have an idea of what they want to see and what really matters to them. That is why I can say that having this events like National Night Out and our Hub Gatherings we can all come together and explore the ideas and make them into reality. Our community is full of knowledge and wisdom, all they need is a tool and a outlet for them to showcase what they have to offer and the rest is History...

Until next time and remember we as community members have an important role to play... Let's continue to do so..
