This April the Building Healthy Communities Youth Coordinators’ Network was officially launched with our first statewide conference call. The purpose of the Youth Coordinators’ Network is to support youth workers across BHC places to strengthen their youth engagement, advocacy, and organizing efforts, provide opportunities to build relationships across the state, and share effective practices, lessons learned, and challenges in our work. The first bi-monthly conference call focused on sharing stories about what motivates to support youth engagement, developing shared goals for the Youth Coordinators’ Network, and brainstorming ideas for the first statewide BHC Youth Coordinators’ gathering, tentatively scheduled for June in Los Angeles.
In partnership with BHC organizations across the state, the Movement Strategy Center will conduct an assessment of the youth engagement and organizing landscape across the 14 BHC places, develop curriculum to support adult allies and youth leaders in their efforts, and identify several BHC sites to provide additional support and capacity-building.
